• Comment: Bailey does not cite a basionym nor an authorship for this name but provides a description of the variety. However, in a later publication (Compr. Cat. Queensland Pl. 40 (1913)) in which Bailey lists the same Capparis taxa in the same order, the entry for Capparis spinosa var. nummularia is replaced by Capparis nummularia DC. Perhaps for this reason, the name of the variety has been treated by subsequent Australian authors as being a new combination by Bailey rather than as the name of a new taxon and this view is maintained here, following ICN Art. 41.4 (Madrid Code, 2025).
